vCenter Operations for View 1.5 – Part 4: Upgrade to vCenter Operations 5.7.2 and vC Ops for View 1.5.1
My current installed version of vCenter Operations for View is 5.7.0 for vC Ops and 1.5.0 for vC Ops for View. Before updating to a newer version you have to consult the VMware Product Interoperability Guide to check if the versions are compatible to each other.
In my case I will start with the vCenter Operations Manager update because vC Ops for View 1.5.1 is only supported with vC Ops 5.7.2.
Updating vCenter Operations Manager to 5.7.2 is a very simple task. Just upload the pak file and click update.
Update vCenter Operations Manager to 5.7.2
Before you start with the update take a snapshot of the whole vAPP.
Navigate to https://vCOps-Manager-IP/admin and login with the admin credentials. Then navigate to Update and select the 5.7.2 pak file.
After clicking Update you have to wait approximately 15min until the vApp is updated. You can check the update progress when you re-login to the admin panel.
Update vCenter Operations for View Adapter to 1.5.1
Before you can update the View adapter you have to download the new version here. After downloading the pak file go to https://<UI VM IP Address>/admin and log in with your credentials.
Go to Update and browser to the pak file location. Then click Update and accept the EULA.
If the update is successful, you will see a similar screen
Update vCenter Operations for View Broker Agent to 1.5.1
Prior to the installation of the 1.5.1 broker agent, you have to remove the 1.5.0 broker agent from the View Connection Server. The complete configuration of the 1.5.0 installation will be saved and reused for 1.5.1. For the installation of the 1.5.1 broker agent follow the instructions from Part 2 of this series.
