Things you should know (TYSK) – Horizon View Direct Connect Plug-In & PCoIP
For my remote homelab access I’m using a virtual machine where the Horizon View Direct Connection plug-in is installed. I have chosen this configuration because a complete View environment only for remote accessing of 1 VM is like breaking a butterfly on a wheel. I have a View environment but only for testing purposes which is not running all the time.
When I was working with this management VM I recognise that clipboard redirection was not working as expected. I checked under C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\Agent\extras which adm templates were available and loaded the only available one (view_agent_direct_connection.adm) in the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) on that VM. I had then the following options:
As you can see there is no option like “Clipboard redirection” or similar. Therefor I took the pcoip.adm template which is part of the View GPO Bundle and can be downloaded on the VMware Download page:
If you’re using an older version of View, copy the pcoip.adm template from a View Connection server. You can find the adm template under C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\Server\extras\GroupPolicyFiles.
After I added the template to the group policy editor I got this:
I enabled it and chose “Enable in both directions”. Per default it’s “Enable client to agent only”.
In order that this function is working correctly you must reboot the whole VM. Unfortunatly i didn’t find any possibility to restart the PCoIP service itself.
After the reboot it was possible to do a clipboard copy & paste in both directions.
