2013 – A short Review
2013 was a year of changes. Not only from the working but also from the private point of view. I moved with my wife from a flat to our new house and we are happy about that. More space (especially for the servers), a garden and a lot of lovely new neighbors.
In February, I also started a new job at Imtech ICT Austria GmbH which was a really good choice. After transferring all VMware certifications and doing VTSP-BCA, my company got promoted to VMware Premier status. This was a big achievement.
These are some achievements I made in 2013:
- I was certified as VMware Certified Advanced Professional: Cloud Infrastructure Design and Desktop Design at the same day, you can read my experience here
- I was certified as Citrix Certified Professional: Apps and Desktops, I had done the beta test and passed it
- I was certified as Microsoft Certified Solution Expert: Private Cloud
- I was certified on ITIL v3 Foundation
- I hosted a Veeam Webinar together with Claus Pfleger (german only)
- I started to work as VDCC (VMware Desktop Competency Community) Leader, which is an Austrian local community with focus on VDI
- I was recognized by some great people in the virtualization industry and had interesting talks with other geeks at VMworld EMEA, I think for me this was the biggest achievement
But there were also downs in 2013. At the beginning of the year, I failed two VCAPs and was not awarded with VMware vExpert status. That was some thoughtful time because I searched for reasons why I have failed and was not awarded. But after that “kick in the ass” I started to work harder on my blog and tried to post on a more regular base, but this was not so easy as I had thought. When you’re not a native English speaker, it takes much more time to finish a post.
So what are my goals for 2014:
- Get awarded as VMware vExpert
- Get awarded as PernixData PernixPro
- Become certified as VMware Certified Advanced Professional: Cloud Infrastructure Administrator
- Become certified as VMware Certified Advanced Professional: Desktop Administrator
- Become certified as Nutanix Platform Professional
- Pass Microsoft exam 74-409 (got a free exam voucher)
- Get under Top 200 on vSphere-Land.com Top vBlog 2014 contest (I know big challenge)
- Start with VCDX-DCV or VCDX-DT application
- Get in touch with more experts on events or conferences
- Bring more readers to my blog (also a big challange)
- Write a minimum of 2 posts a month
Finally a big “Thank you” goes to all my readers. Without readers a blog would be nothing.
I wish you all a successful 2014 – work hard to achieve your dreams.
